Whistler Vacation Condos - Rental by Owner
Frequently Asked Questions about Whistler and this condo

Q: How can I know that you are an ethical and legitimate business?

A: Our townhome is registered with Revenue Canada and we have had over 25 years of various business experience. You will receive timely, professional communications and documents. We have been managing our rental properties since 1998.

Q: Hotels have check-in desks and maids. How does this private rental work?

A: We are very thorough in the information we send, with detailed directions for locating our unit. All exterior door locks are a combination keypad, so there is no concern about keys. Prior to your arrival our housekeeping service cleans the unit, makes up the beds and stocks fresh linens. It should be noted that as is typical of private owner rentals, your stay with us does not include hotel-style daily maid service, but you do have the convenience of private laundry and kitchen facilities. We also provide you with all the important phone numbers should you encounter any difficulties and need assistance.

Q: We are very choosy with our vacation accommodation. We've stayed at Chateau Whistler and like the ambiance, but the family would like to spread out and have the comforts of home. How does your townhome compare?

A: Obviously we do not have the benefits of a large hotel, such as room service, on-site restaurant and bar, etc. However, we do have beautifully appointed decor, gorgeous views, and those wonderful conveniences your family will appreciate like a full kitchen stocked with condiments and staples, full-sized washer & dryer, private hot tub for 6 on our large private deck, unlimited on-site internet connection and so much more. We have pleased guests who are used to the finest surroundings. We would be happy to address any concerns you may have about changing from your usual vacation lodging pattern. We feel confident that you will thoroughly enjoy the private townhome experience. Remember- unlike most hotels, there is NO FEE for parking in our garage.

Q: If your unit is available, can we rent last-minute- say tonight?

A: Yes! We've designed things for quick access. Check our calendar for open dates then call us with your credit card number, and we will FAX the essential info like directions and door combination. You'll be on your way in no time!

Q: Do I get a better value by renting from a private owner?

A: Absolutely- in so many ways. There is NO 10% hotel tax, charged by any company representing more than 3 properties. If you've checked the rates for Glacier's Reach as listed by corporate management, you'll know you're doing much better working with us. Also, the interior of corporate properties are very basic. Minimal kitchen equipment, bare refrigerator, empty cupboards, stock generic "motel art". Our unit is friendly- food staples, condiments and spices in the cupboards and refrigerator, generous kitchen equipment (even an espresso machine!), hand-picked art, music, games, videos/DVDs and more. This is truly a vacation home!

Q: I've seen advertisements for condos cheaper than yours. Why the difference?

A: As realtors say: Location, location, location! Glacier's Reach is in the village and you can walk to just about anyplace from there. This townhome has an incredible view and is among the largest floorplans of all the units. Also, another important word: amenities. We have it all- private hot tub, large decks, fireplace, full sized washer & dryer, jacuzzi tub, fully equipped kitchen, even air-conditioning (a rarity in Whistler) for those sunny summer months. Our rates reflect all these things. After being there and comparing, our guests have quickly recognized the value of this particular home and have been very pleased and eager to return. Another note: Glacier's Reach properties vary widely in floorplan, size, views, location and interiors. We know all of them and NONE come close to what we can offer. For better comparison, see our Glacier's Reach unit map and Photo comparison pages.

Q: Some of us like to ski and do outdoor activities. But some of our group are less inclined. Would Whistler work for us?

A: We can speak from experience on this one! While the active members (Paul) go out and "do their thing" there is so much to enjoy in the village and the condo itself. Shoppers are going to love the village full of wonderful shops, art galleries, cafes and people-watching. It is a pedestrian village with lots of charm and a European ambiance. The condo itself is a wonderful place to grab some private time, if that's desired. I (Katy) like to curl up with a good book by the fire in the winter or soak up the sun on the deck in the summer. The south view from the condo provides much to sooth the soul. Then there's the jacuzzi tub for true relaxation. Remember, too, that the trip up the mountains in the Gondolas is a treat for skiers and non-skiers, winter and summer. The view is awe-inspiring.

Q: How do I get to the lifts from this condo?

A: A major stop for the free shuttle is visible across the street. The bus makes 1 more stop and you're there! (About 2 minutes) The shuttles are frequent and pleasant to use, with ski racks attached.

Q: How can I get the dates I want? Whistler gets so booked up!

A: Book early! For prime winter dates (Christmas week and Presidents Week being the biggest), a year in advance is not too soon. Length of stay makes a difference too. We are able to book a week stay or longer up to a year in advance. A booking of just a few nights is only booked on a space available basis, closer to the dates desired. Remember, the only way to reserve your space is with a deposit.

Q: What is the best time to come?

A: The winter ski season operates on both Mountains around Nov 20-April 30; and Whistler Mountain extends its winter season to August, snow conditions permitting. Whistler/Blackcomb consistently offers the most reliable snow conditions, early and late.
Early season (November 20 - December 22) is the perfect time for novice skiers and snowboarders to visit the Resort, as the ski area is typically quieter which allows beginners to have the Mountains virtually to themselves.
Late season (April 3-30) offers winter snow conditions and typically milder weather with sunny skies.

The Resort offers more than 75 restaurants, ranging from fine dining to fast food take-out, from family spots to casual pub fare; and features Greek, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, French, Mexican, Mediterranean, West Coast and American cuisine, and more! Some of our favorites: BBQ chicken pizza at the Brewhouse, pot pies at the Dubh Linn Gate Inn, incredible burgers & banana splits at Splitz, beaver tails, waffle cones at Cows, baked goods at Gone. The IGA has some great apple dumplings in their bakery.
