Weekend/Short stay options at Glacier's Reach Townhome 124

Some background info:

Many northwest residents do not realize the tremendous international appeal of Whistler in the Ski season. Whereas a Seattle or Vancouver resident might desire a last minute jaunt up north for a weekend of skiing, avid skiiers from all over the world plan months ahead to fly in for a major vacation of a week or longer. Consequently, inquirers are often surprised to find that a ski-weekend booking at Whistler is not very easy to find.

Q: We've booked weekends at hotels without a problem. Why the difference?

A: Hotels have many rooms, and project their profits based on percentages of occupancy. If they book one room for 3 weekend nights with the rest of the week left vacant, many other rooms that are booked for more nights make their percentages work out all right over the longterm. In contrast, private owners have 1, maybe 2 properties to book. If we book a weekend only, the mid week nights most certainly will be left vacant. We have no other rooms to average out the profits. It becomes an empty condo producing no revenue for a good part of the week.

Q: Are there circumstances where it would still be possible to book a weekend in ski season?

A: That depends on 3 factors- 1) The season- in general, weekends-only bookings are not available during ski season: Late November-April. 2) The advance time of your request. Generally, we don't book any stay less than 6 nights more than 1 month in advance. 3) The booking schedule around your requested dates. If we have booked the week prior and the week after, with the weekend left, then we will be open to booking it.

Q: How do we know when a weekend is available?

A: You are free to check our availability calendar, but please realize that open dates do not guarantee a booking. Please refer to the criteria above that we use to determine the viability of a booking request.

Q: If weekends are out, how do we get a few days of skiing in Whistler?

A: If you have no success with private owners, for the reasons we've explained, you may need to book with a hotel.

Q: What about non-ski season?

A: That's a different story, with the exception of the 2 great summer months- July & August. Check our availability calendar and make a request! Keep in mind that our rates are 10-20% more for weekend "short stays" and a cleaning fee is payable if your request does not meet a minimum stay for that season.

Q: Can I book one night only?

A: We have an established policy that payment for 2 nights is the minimum we would consider, regardless of actual nights used. The plus side is that even if you stay just one night, you are free to use the condo all the next day, and would not have to depart at 10am. All applicable minimum fees, such as cleaning and extra percentages would apply as well.

Q: I've seen advertisements for condos cheaper than yours and they book short stays. Why the difference?

A: Our properties are highly desirable. As realtors say: Location, location, location! Glacier's Reach is in the village and you can walk to just about anyplace from there. Our townhomes have an incredible view and is among the largest floorplans of all the units. Also, another important word: amenities. This unit has it all- private hot tub, large decks, fireplace, full sized washer & dryer, jacuzzi tub, fully equipped kitchen, even air-conditioning (a rarity in Whistler) for those sunny summer months. Our rates and policies reflect all these things. Our guests have been very pleased and eager to return.
